HOW THE INTERNET OPERATES [P1]

Introduction of internet and how it operates

Internet is a global wide area that associates computer systems over the world giving an assortment of data, comprising of interconnected systems using standardized communication conventions. By using a internet protocol suite(TCP/IP), the internet connects billions of gadgets to the internet where we can make use of it in many ways. Such things like the World Wide Web which is the information pages we can browse online, instant messaging chat programs, and MP3 music downloading are the top basic computer network.

A collection of computers and networks are all loosely connected together where the connection between the computers are a mixture of copper cables, fibre-optic cables, satellite connections, and wireless radio connections which this concludes of how the internet is formed. Internet has only a single job which is to transfer computerized data from one place to another and because of the internet's simplicity, it can handle different types of data which this helps a lot of people to do all sorts of different jobs.

Through our smartphone, we can access information from the internet by using Wi-fi, mobile data, and servers. The internet is based upon the World Wide Web server and for modems, it has the ability to retain different applications running which Wi-fi and broadband can then permit the technology inside smartphones and computers in connecting to the internet so with this, anyone is able to browse information from everywhere throughout the world as long as they have a steady connection.

Every computer that is connected to the internet, each has their own IP address which stands for Internet Protocol. When we connect through an Internet Service Provider(ISP), usually we are set a temporary IP address. However, if we connect from a local area network(LAN), our computer might then own a permanent IP address or a temporary one from a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol(DCHP) server.

What is World Wide Web

World Wide Web comprises of pages that can be accessed by using a web browser. The actual network of networks where all the data dwells is the internet. Email and internet gaming are two examples that is apart of the internet and not apart of the World Wide Web. The Hyper-Text Transfer Protocol(HTTP) is the technique used to relocate web pages to our computer. With the use of hypertext, a word or phrase can hold within a connection to another web site. Every web pages are composed in the hyper-text markup language(HTML), which works together with HTTP.

Types of connection

These are the 3 main types of internet connectivity, each has their own offers of methods of transmitting data and connection speeds:

1) Modem
- An internet connection with a modem utilizes analogue signals through a telephone line to generate a connection with the Internet Service Provider(ISP). Requested data is then delivered back through the telephone line in analogue signals which is then changed by the modem into a digital format and reachable by the computer.

2) Broadband
- A broadband connection transmits digital data through a cable line, providing quick internet connectivity constantly without any interruptions to the telephone line.

3) Fibre optic broadband
- It uses light emitting signals and refraction to transmit data through fibre optic cables and at that point, it is then changed into digital format at the router so the computer can comprehend the data. Fibre optic broadband is rapidly supplanting the traditional broadband due to its immensely upload speeds.
